I love my Blue Pentel .7mm Mechanical Pencil. That never crossed my mind, when I started looking into Gel Pens. I tried Pilot, then I went to Uniball Signo 207. I started looking into Pentel Gel Pens again, when a reviewer said they had switched from Uniball Signo 207 to Pentel EnerGel, and why. I was checking out Sharpie S-Gel Metal at the time, and I had to investigate. I bought an Pentel EnerGel Alloy, and started to convert. The EnerGel alloy can accomodate Unibal Signo 207 refills, as well as Sharpie refills, so if you like those brands of ink refills, they will fit into the EnerGel Alloy, as well as the Uniball Signo 207 Impact pen bodies, also. I have a heavy hand when I'm writing, so the heavier point of The 0.7mm and 1.0mm are a better fit for me, as the .35mm & .5mm are a bit scratchy for me, now. If you write small, a .35mm & 0.5mm might be a better fit. The weight of the EnerGel Alloy is REALLY nice. Like the larger size and weight of the Uniball Signo 207 Impact & Premier. For its smaller profile, Alloy is almost as heavy, but less bulky. I just wish that Uniball would make an all metal version of their Impact & Premier, like Pilot has. With the PhiIography/Style, Alloy, and the Pentel EnerGel RTX Retractable Liquid Gel Pens that have a metal body, I still have more testing to do, but right now, Pentel EnerGel is beginning to win me over.

The Tinker Small and the Wave + have become my EDC Tools.

I had to stop using the Backpacker because it kept falling apart. either falling off my key chain or when i would take it out to write something it would come apart wrong and the ink cartridge would fallout and I would have to put it back together to write. I went back to my old Inka pen from the 90s.

As of 2024 finding these scales loose is impossible, so I had to purchase an Esquire I found on Ebay to serve as a donor. My PTC is my everyday carry tool and its cellidor scales are chipped on the edges due to falling damage. EDIT: To remove the cellidor scales without significant damage, 5 minutes in hot (not boiling) water will soften them so they can be reused. I used this technique on the cellidor PTC scales with great success: they still press fit onto the Esquire.

It is a perfect companion in a Trangia stormcooker.

1 of my favorite knifes of all time. I own 3 now. I recently gave one as a gift to a friend who makes custom knives. He seemed to be impressed. I did have a mini flathead driver in the cork remover. I love that feature/option.

Both are my favorites. But I disagree that these are disposable. You can get refills for the inks. I buy them on Amazon.

NEVER DO THIS. 2 things that you shouldn't do: 1. pry the scales off your knife 2. submerge your knife in any water. you damage the old scales and you invite rusting the pins and places you can't dry on your knife. instead do this: warm the knife by covering the top with a towel and then blowing the top of it with a hair drier on low setting for 30 to 45 seconds. this heats up the plastic enough to soften it so that you do not damage the scales when you pop them off. to clean the knife you get comes CLP or an oil that cleans while it lubricates and use a small brush or q-tip to get all areas you can reach. then use a spray REM oil to get where you could not with the brush/q-tip. blow it dry with canned air and let it sit on a paper towel for 8 to 12 hours.

Oh man, i cant watch you using a knife to open the tool...

I loved my Grand Prix until the scissors were dull, the file smooth and the awl blunt. It's still in its leather belt pouch, but I haven't carried it regularly for 25 years. Mine is slightly different to the one in the video, in that mine does not have the sewing eye in the awl. However, like the one in the video it does have a slot in the Phillips screwdriver blade for opening tinned meat when you lose the key from the can. Add pliers, and this would be THE perfect knife for me.

You can chop of a little of the plastic end of the Parker refill and it works fine in the Sheaffer. I wish they made a broad point so I now use a G2 type broad refill. I love the feel of the Sentinel.
